Dr. John Kuhn - Owner
Dr. Kuhn attended Iowa Wesleyan for undergrad and the University of Illinois for veterinary studies. He graduated vet school in 1978 and has been in private practice ever since. He is co-owner of DuWayne, and has also spent time practicing in Florida and California. Dr. Kuhn grew up in Naperville at Fairlane Farm, a boarding and training facility owned by his parents, who were both actively involved in the sport horse world. He started playing polo early in life, continuing the family tradition. He now lives in Naperville with his wife and three sons.
Dr. Jim McCaslin - Owner
Dr. Jim McCaslin grew up learning veterinary medicine from his father John, who started DuWayne and practiced for over 50 years. Dr McCaslin graduated from Ross University Veterinary School in 1987. He spent his clinical year at Oklahoma State University, and studied at various equine surgical centers around the country as a student. Dr. McCaslin has been actively involved in the Illinois harness horse industry for over 30 years, breeding, training, and driving many horses of his own. He currently resides in Wayne. When he’s not practicing or working with his own horses, you can find him on the racquetball court or the golf course.
Dr. Mary McKay – Associate
Dr. McKay grew up on a farm , where her love for animals and passion for their care began at an early age. She first attended Augustana College, then continued on to obtain her DVM from the University of Illinois. During vet school, she specialized in horses and learned from experts in surgery and reproduction at various externships. She completed an internship at Montana Equine, a referral center outside of Bozeman, MT. Here she received advanced training in surgery, internal medicine, reproduction, and emergency/critical care. She also spent two months at a large equine practice in Las Vegas. In her free time, Dr. McKay enjoys riding, hiking, and spending time with her husband Mitch, family, and friends.
Stacey Leidig – Office Manager / Head Assistant
Stacey is from Elmhurst, Illinois. She joined the team at DuWayne in 2002, and has been heading the staff members for 10 years. She has a zoo made up of 5 dogs, 4 horses, 7 cats, a rabbit, a ferret, 3 children and 1 husband. In her free time she enjoys trail riding and traveling to competitions around the country with her daughters, who are both actively involved in the world of eventing.
Brittany Decker – Veterinary Assistant
Brittany was born and raised in Lake County, IL. She has been riding horses since she was a little girl. She is currently studying biology and pre-veterinary medicine at Northern Illinois University. She now lives in St Charles, and enjoys spending time riding her horses and caring for all of her animals. She has adopted several rescue cases and is the clinic’s chicken aficionado.
